Tuesday's Boutique has been a glimmer of a dream that's grown into so much for a couple of years now. It started as a hobby, something to keep my mind busy after the loss of family. When it came to be that I was pretty savvy at the craft, a glimmer of a dream slowly became reality.
Self taught by YouTube and local artists, I started with creating what tutorials taught me. Then one day my old landlord approached me and asked if I could make two pairs of teal earrings for her daughters. I asked what she had in mind, and as she described to me what she envisioned for her girls, I realized this was what the future held for the Boutique. Not just handmade jewelry, but a place where a persons designs could be crafted just how they wanted.
From there my boss encouraged me to put up a small display at the diner I've worked at for quite a few years now. My fiancée built me a wooden display to honor the handmade theme the boutique represented while I worked at getting enough inventory to fill it. The day I brought my display in I was a nervous wreck. It turns out I stressed for nothing because my jewelry was a big hit. I still have a display and sell my pieces where I work to this day and that was over two years ago.
I've had so many that approach me asking for something special for this occasion or that. People have asked for gifts, jewelry for everyday wear, even something to wear to church on Sundays. Ive crafted some amazing pieces that I never would have had the chance to if it weren't for some of the people I've met on this journey.
My favorite part is that moment I reveal a piece to someone who has been waiting to see what i made based on their designs. It's a little nerve wrecking to spend so much time making something you don't even know a person will like or not. But I have yet to disappoint a customer. To know I've made a person so happy with something, that will make a person feel good about themselves
I've taken my hand at other eccommerce venues in the past. Ive put in months of hard work a few times creating a site, uploading my jewelry, spending the extra dollar, only to be lead to dead end after dead end. I've always had the thought of trying shopify but was worried about wasting more time and money that is honestly hard to come by these days.
So I suppose I should start by sharing how Tuesday's Boutique came to be. Even the slightest glimmer of a dream always has potential for coming true. Anything is possible with hard work and determination. I hope you join me as I share this journey with you, because there's a lot more to come.
